This client preferred not to be named, but green-lit publishing the case. He sells criminal defense legal consulting, and his problem was not getting prospects. It was being available when they arrived.
Where it started
In criminal defense, the person writing in is not calmly comparing vendors. They are having a bad time and they write when they can: at night, on a Sunday, walking out of a hearing.
The problem is that those are exactly the hours he is working another case. His description of the pattern was blunt: clients reached him during the hours he was busy. This was not a volume problem or a marketing problem. It was a simultaneity problem. Every message that sat unanswered for hours was somebody who, meanwhile, kept looking.
What we built
An AI agent on his business WhatsApp, loaded with his practice's information, answering within seconds at any hour. It handles the questions that repeat, understands what kind of case the person is bringing, qualifies them, and leaves the conversation ready for him to step into whenever he can.
It does not replace the consultation. It holds it until he gets there.
The result
It converted an average of 6 prospects during the hours when nobody used to be answering. Those are conversations that previously went cold or went elsewhere, simply because nobody replied in time.
He also felt the path to hiring got shorter. We report that part as what it is: his read of the change, not a figure we measured. We take it seriously anyway, because it is consistent with what an immediate first contact does for a service people hire under pressure.
What we did not expect
The agent ended up working as his assistant too. It was not just handling prospects: it became day-to-day support inside the practice. That use was not in the original scope, it showed up on its own, and it is what opened the next conversation.
What he wants now is to turn it into a full assistant, which is exactly the path these projects tend to take once the first flow works: you start at the front door, and the same agent ends up covering internal operations.
What we did not measure
Worth stating plainly, because a case study with no declared limits is not a case study, it is a brochure:
- The faster path to hiring is the client's perception, not a measurement of ours.
- The 6 converted prospects are an average across his unattended hours, not a business total and not a promise of results for anyone else.
- The business name is not published, by his choice.
Does your WhatsApp fill up at exactly the hours you cannot answer? That is what an agent is for: it covers the window you are losing today.
